Saving and Playing Back a Mix

Overview

The Mix Management feature allows users to save, retrieve, update, and delete custom audio mix states for individual tracks. A “mix state” captures the specific playback settings—namely the volume levels and mute statuses—for the individual stems (files) comprising a track.

This enables several key user experiences:

  • Listeners can save their progress or preferred mix and return to it later.
  • Producers/Owners can save different preset mixes for their tracks.
  • Platform Integrations can manage mix states on behalf of their own end-users transparently.

Core Capabilities

1. Saving a Mix

Users can save their current playback state for a track.

  • Mix State: Captures the volume and mute settings for each stem in the track.
  • Naming: Users can optionally provide a distinct name (up to 100 characters) to identify the mix (e.g., “Vocal Boost Mix”).
  • Creation: The system records the creation time of your saved mix.

2. Listing Mixes

Users can view their history of saved mixes for a specific track.

  • Ordering: Mixes are displayed in descending chronological order (newest first).

3. Retrieving a Mix

Users can restore a saved state directly into the audio player, applying the exact settings that were previously saved.

4. Deleting a Mix

Users can permanently remove a saved mix they no longer need from their library.
